These sweet, fresh, luscious strawberries may or may not originate from that magical place called Sitio La Presa. That, we may not know.

If you’re not familiar with Sitio La Presa, it’s this fictional place from the show Forevermore. I would have loved to watch it regularly but my schedule allows me to watch it from time to time. I love how Cathy Garcia Molina interweaves the places up north, strawberries and strawberry legends (remember the Kambal na Strawberry legend?) into the story. Thank goodness for I Want TV, I can watch it anytime I want but the thing is, I need to find the time. Pretty please Time, I need you. Stat.

Anyway, back to these strawberries, when first saw them, I wanted to make a strawberry smoothie out of them. And then I saw some ripe mangoes in Rustan’s and I thought, mangoes and strawberries would make a wonderful combination. I don’t think you can never go wrong with this combination. Just thinking of sipping this smoothie, I know it will feel like there will be a fruit party in my mouth. Bring it on.

My smoothie recipe will make four cups, so you’re welcome to half it if you want. If you notice, I don’t add sugar in my smoothie recipes, that’s because I want for the fruits to shine and for their flavors to really come out. Besides, when making smoothies, I definitely recommend using the ripest bananas you can find. It’s actually our substitute for sugar and as an added bonus, it makes the smoothie creamier. But just in case you want a sweeter (but still a healthier) version, you can add coconut sugar, or maple syrup or agave syrup. Whatever you choose will taste great with the smoothie.

To make it, blend all ingredients in a blender until smooth and creamy. Pour into glasses and serve. Enjoy!
