Banana Walnut Smoothie Recipe

One of my new year resolutions this year (at least for my baking blog) would be to feature healthy dessert recipes every now and then. Do you want to see more healthy dessert recipes here on Bake Happy? Do let me know, okay?

Let’s start by featuring a smoothie recipe, shall we? I have a bag of walnuts sitting prettily in our pantry. Hmmm… surely, I can make that into a smoothie, right?

And then, in the Mercury Drug Store near our place, there’s these line of ice cream flavors I’ve been meaning to try. It’s Nestle’s Zero % Fat, No Sugar Added Ice Cream. They have it in Vanilla Flavor (there are still more) and I definitely want to add this to my smoothie recipe.  Vanilla Walnut Smoothie sounds good but having banana’s in it will make it even better. I know, trust me. 

We start by grinding the walnuts until they are almost in powder form in a blender.

Add in milk, I used low fat for this one. 

Then I added the ice cream and the bananas. Use very ripe bananas for a more deliciously fruity smoothie. Blend until smooth. 

Oh before I forget, make sure your ingredients are cold before blending, okay?

Banana Walnut Smoothie
makes 3 servings (750 ml)

What we need:

1/4 cup walnuts, roasted
1 tub (450 ml) 0% fat, no sugar added vanilla ice cream
3 bananas (make that very, very, very ripe bananas)
1 cup low fat milk
drizzle of honey (optional)

Here’s how:
(1) In a blender, grind walnuts.
(2) Add milk, vanilla ice cream and bananas. 
(3) You may opt to drizzle a little honey on top. Drink immediately and enjoy.
