Unlike Martin Nievera who immortalized this Christmas song, I’d rather see Fruit Salad perfectly placed on our dinner table instead of by the Christmas tree. Otherwise, this little lady right here will beat me to it.
Okay, so I know everyone has their own version of this dish which is a staple during noche buena. But I thought today, I’d show you how my family makes it. It’s so easy you can do it in your sleep.
Filipino Fruit Salad
What we need:
1 can fruit cocktail
1 can Nestle heavy cream
1/2 can condensed milk
1/4 cup grated cheese
(1) Drain the syrup from the fruit cocktail and place it in a big bowl. Hmm… see those pretty cherries? Those are actually the choice fruits. Yum!
(2) Add half a can of the condensed milk ( or more depending on how sweet you want your salad to be)
(3) Add the cream and lastly the grated cheese. Grated cheese is actually optional but I like adding it as it adds a hint of salty dimension to a sweet dish.
(4) Mix together and chill overnight to let the flavors marry.
Decorate with cherries on top. Ta dahh!!
Are you ready for the holidays yet? 🙂
